Where do the children play?

/Well you roll on roads over fresh green grass.
For your lorry loads pumping petrol gas.
And you make them long, and you make them tough.
But they just go on and on, and it seems that you can’t get off.

Oh, I know we’ve come a long way,
We’re changing day to day,
But tell me, where do the children play? /

Those were the lyrics of “where do the children play” by cat stevens.

The song today, is truer that what it was when it was released first in the 70’s. I remember my childhood, i would happily play on the street most of the day. Im sure people who have seen the 90’s as children were exposed to most of the changes in technology(Though each one claims to have a better childhood than the other, these here are my thoughts)
In the 90’s, color TV became common in every house hold, people migrating from DoorDarshan To cable TV, was one of the most common trends seen.
Coming back to the point, There was a lot of freedom back in those days, compared to what we have today.
Lesser pollution, more greenery blah blah…. Though that is the price we pay for improvement in “technology” and improvement of the “country” they say.

In the fast changing world, it is of prime importance to see how it effects us, and where it may lead. Talking about children first:
Back in my childhood i remember watching cartoons which were actually cartoons! We had Tom and Jerry to make us laugh, Flintstones and jetsons talking about the past and the future, Captain planet teaching on how to keep a safe environment, Jungle book, bugs bunny, Sylvester, Taz and other characters making us laugh, Tailspin, Dexter’s lab,Courage the cowardly dog, to name a few, the quality of animation was brilliant-though it wasn’t as advanced as today. cartoons had some sensible story which children could understand, most of the cartoons were neutral and did not impose ridiculous beliefs in children.
Compared to what ive noticed today, most of the cartoons are meaningless, with no story or even decent animation. All they have is violence and more violence  there’s hardly any comedy!(poor kids) the worst of all, many of the cartoons are religiously biased(Dont get defensive, its the truth).

This is just one side of it, there are many other factors which i haven’t shed light on,and giving a thought on the above points would bring that into light.

So the question to answer is :
Where do the children play?
